October 26th and I am finally fulfilling one of my New Year's resolutions for 2008! I've started a blog...obviously. My interest in the blogging world arrived in the form of scrapbooking blogs. I can jump from blog to blog for hours, finding inspiration for the craft I love on talented scrapbookers' sites.
But my addiction to the blogging world came when my friend Jen traveled to Ghana to adopt her daughter Selina. Daily, Ry and I would curl up in the big chair in my room, laptop between us and read Jen's daily posts. It was a wonderful story of African travel adventures and adoption challenges (and rewards!) unfolding before us in small doses, chapters or posts via our computer. Those daily reads prompted wonderful conversations between my daughter and I about giving, loving and sharing.
This blog will reflect what I enjoy in others' blogs - a glimpse of family life with all the challenges, joys and rewards life brings. And of course, the occasional posting of scrapbook pages, handmade cards and hopefully some creative inspiration from me to you!
Five years ago, Rob broke his arm at a BMX park (within the first few minutes of a birthday party he had been looking forward to for weeks). We are not sure why, but Ry, five at that time, thought broken bones were contagious. No amount of reasoning was going to convince her otherwise. She refused to be in close proximity to her brother for six weeks! This past Wednesday one of Ry's best friends broke her arm. Within 24 hours, Ry had a broken arm as well. Maybe broken bones ARE contagious after all!
